About the Studio Ghibli

Studio Ghibli Inc. is a Japanese animation film studio headquartered in Koganei, Tokyo. The studio is best known for its animated feature films and has also produced several short films, television commercials, and one television film. The Ghibli Museum (三 鷹 の 森 ジ ブ リ 美術館, Mitaka Forest Ghibli Museum) is a museum showcasing the work of the Japanese animation studio Studio Ghibli. It is located in Inokashira Park in Mitaka, a western city of Tokyo, Japan. The museum combines features of a children’s museum, technology museum, and a fine arts museum and is dedicated to animation’s art and technique. Studio Ghibli director Hayao Miyazaki designed the museum himself, using storyboards similar to those he creates for his films. The design was influenced by European architecture, such as the hilltop village of Calcata in Italy.
