Do you suffer from frustrations? Iceland broadcasts your cries to nature

By Global Heart | Esther Haasnoot

People worldwide have been recording their feelings of frustration to be broadcasted into the Icelandic wilderness.

So, do you suffer from fears and frustrations?

Let’s face it, 2020 was a miserable year. Whether you feel frustrated about work, relationships, politics, world affairs, or social constraints of COVID-19, maybe it’s time you screamed. That’s why an Icelandic tourism company offers a remarkable but satisfying new source of stress relief.

The Looks Like You Need to Let It Out initiative is designed to help people let go of some of their pent-up feelings. Do you feel the need to shout in an open space, but is this not possible? Iceland grants you this experience and offers to broadcast your unfortunate cries over their beautiful mountains, waterfalls, and other picturesque locations.

“You’ve been through a lot this year and it seems you need the perfect place to get rid of your frustrations. Somewhere big, vast, and unspoiled. It seems you need Iceland, “the project website states. “Record your scream, and we will release it in the beautiful, wide-open spaces of Iceland. You will feel better, we promise. ”

Shouting can be surprisingly therapeutic!

The campaign comes from a company called Promote Island. Although the concept seems a bit far-fetched, mental health therapist and counselor Dr. Zoë Aston supports

The project’s psychological benefits by saying: “Screaming as a therapeutic tool was developed in the 1970s as a way to let go of accumulated emotions.

“The psychological response to wanting to scream relieves a part of our brain called the amygdala,” she continued. “The amygdala is activated when we’re threatened – something we’ve all experienced in recent months.

“Part of the beneficial effect of shouting comes from being able to make a loud sound in a vast, open, undisturbed space. This allows your amygdala to let go of the stress stored there and move on. ”

The website even contains tips to shout at your best. For example: “Imagine a baby crying and screaming. The sound comes from the baby’s belly. This is where your screaming has to come from. If it helps, put your hands on your belly and take a few deep breaths before you start. ”

Shout out Through Iceland Broadcast is entirely free and easy to do

All you have to do is go to the website and record your scream, which is then broadcast through a giant speaker installed in several beautiful Iceland locations. When the urge strikes, you can just start screaming again.

That said, not all recordings are shouts of misery – some people shout on the funny side; others use their ten second sound to say hello to the beautiful scenery.

Of course, shouting is just a “starting point,” according to the site. If you need mental health support, you must seek professional help – but for anyone who may feel a little overwhelmed during these turbulent times, a scream in the picturesque Icelandic void is the boost you need.
