His obituary in the Los Angeles Times rivaled significant political figures, running three columns with a photograph. The cat was so famous that his obituary ran in papers as far away as Hartford, Connecticut. The students raised funds for his gravestone. He is buried at the Los Angeles Pet Memorial Park in Calabasas, California.

The Cat from Room 8 passed away in 1968 and has a unique grave that featured his tale and image in the Los Angeles Pet Memorial Park, where people can visit! His death was discussed in papers like the Los Angeles Times and as far away as the Hartford Courant, proving his notoriety was far and wide. The funds for the memorial came from the students at the school.

Even after Room 8 had passed away, students from the school learned about the legend of Room 8. Later, the school went on to be an animal-friendly environment allowing other strays to roam around!

We were pleased to find the Room 8 Memorial Cat Foundation. That is an animal charity named in honor of Room 8 Cat by the “cat lady of Pasadena,” Hettie L. Perry. Although she and her husband have since passed away, the foundation still exists solely to help cats! Please visit them and support them!
